Almost seven out of 10 the UK use three or more devices to access the internet

Mobile phones, tablets, laptop computers and desktops are the most commonly used devices to access the internet. We are increasingly using multiple devices to go online and 68% of Brits use three or more devices to access the internet daily!


An estimated 12.5 million adult the UK go online with a mobile phone

An increasing number of people are opting to use portable smart devices like mobile phones and tablets to go online. This year, mobile beat desktop in searches on Google for day-to-day internet needs – from browsing to shopping. This trend is expected to continue to dominate online activity.


79% of people aged 18-44 have their smartphones with them 22 hours a day

That’s more hours than most people are awake each day! 80% of smartphone users check social media on their phone first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed. Other common times we check our smartphones include – commuting, during work, lunchtime and after work or in the evening.


61% of internet users make a purchase or order goods/services over the internet

This represents 9.7 million Australians! The most popular purchases we make online include leisure, travel, appliances, electrical and fashion. Age also has a big impact on online purchasing—the age groups between 25 and 54 are the most likely to buy online.

Each of these statistics represent that we have become more deeply connected to the internet through our smartphones and devices than ever before!
