Advertiser Services Cookies Policy for Finsbury Media Products and Services
Finsbury Media offers online marketing services to local businesses (“Advertisers“) through a range of various products and services.
When any internet user visits a page or makes use of an online service, cookies are often sent to his or her browser or device. This Advertiser Services Cookies Policy explains Finsbury Media’s use of cookies and the information which is collected by the cookies on behalf of the Advertiser when certain Finsbury Media products and services are used by Advertisers. It does not cover the cookies that Finsbury Media uses on its own website (covered by the Finsbury Media Cookies Policy) for Finsbury Media’s own use. It also sets out how the users of the Advertiser’s site (“Customers“) can disable cookies or select settings that will opt them out of the use of cookies.
In all cases the Advertisers’ own cookies policy and privacy policy will set out the use that the Advertiser may make of the information that Finsbury Media obtains on behalf of, and makes available to, the Advertiser under this Advertiser Services Cookies Policy and under the Notice of Marketing Practices.
Please note that if you go on to a web page that contains embedded content, for example from YouTube or advertisements from other companies, you may also be sent cookies from these websites set from their domains. This policy does not cover those cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website transfers to an individual’s web browser and are stored on the device. Cookies are then sent back to the originating web domain on your subsequent visits to that domain.
Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device. Cookies allow you to navigate between pages efficiently, remember preferences and generally improve the user experience. They can also be used to tailor advertising to your interests through tracking your browsing across websites.
Session cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser and persistent cookies remain on your device after the browser is closed (for example to remember your user preferences when you return to the site).
Disabling Cookies
If you do not consent to the use of cookies, you can disable them by following the instructions for your browser set out here. However, some products or services may lose functionality if the cookies are disabled. The names of the cookies and their source are listed below so that you can easily identify and disable them if you want through your browser controls or, where available and indicated below, through an automated mechanism for disabling specific cookies.
Advertising Cookies
Advertising cookies (or targeting cookies) collect information about your browsing habits and are used to make advertising more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used by services provided by third parties, such as Like or Share buttons. Third parties provide these services in return for recognising that you have visited a certain website. For example, when you use the Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter share buttons you will be directed to a page controlled by those companies which may place cookies (including targeting cookies) and will be subject to Facebook’s, LinkedIn’s or Twitter’s cookies policies respectively.
In addition to the cookies set by third parties such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter when you use their branded functionality embedded in our site, the following advertising cookies are also used:
We also facilitate the use of advertising cookies from the following third parties. Their cookies policies are set out below together with a link to their opt-out solution:
Third Party Websites
Please note that this cookies policy does not apply to, and that Finsbury Media is not responsible for, the privacy practices of third party websites which may be linked to or accessible through the Advertiser’s website.
Limitations
The Advertiser remains responsible for obtaining any required consents and for complying with laws applicable to its use of the Finsbury Media products and services and any personal data and cookies that are stored and made available to it under its direction by Finsbury Media and must notify its customers about this process and any connected processing of personal data in its published privacy and cookies practices.
When an Advertiser contracts Finsbury Media to provide a service, Finsbury Media collects that information on behalf of the Advertiser as the Advertiser’s data processor or agent. Without the Advertiser’s instructions Finsbury Media will not collect the personal information through the cookies as set out in this notice.
Therefore, the Advertiser’s site should contain a means to obtain consent for the use of cookies, provide an opt out and the information set out in this Advertiser Services Cookies Policy should be included in the Advertiser’s own cookies policy. This is the Advertiser’s responsibility and notwithstanding the assistance Finsbury Media offers in this Advertiser Services Cookies Policy Finsbury Media does not accept any liability for Advertisers’ non-compliance with these requirements.
This Advertiser Services Cookies Policy applies only to cookies used in connection with the Finsbury Media products and services described in this document and offered by Finsbury Media through the relevant Finsbury Media group company referred to in this policy. It does not apply to products or services offered by other Finsbury Media group companies or companies or branch offices in other jurisdictions or by any third parties including partners, or franchisees.
